The Department of Justice employs more than 5,500 staff, who are responsible for managing a wide variety of Government activities relating to the administration and enforcement of the law in Victoria. Activities include:
Corrections Victoria is the business unit of the Department of Justice which is responsible for administering custodial and applicable non custodial sentences of the Courts. As a service agency within the Department of Justice, Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners and the effective management of offenders on community based orders. Corrections Victoria also seeks to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Corrections Victoria's mission is to 'deliver a safe and secure corrections system in which we actively engage offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change. ' To deliver this service, Corrections Victoria operates almost 60 Community Correctional Services offices state wide, 11 public Prisons and works closely with two privately operated Prisons. Almost two-thirds of Corrections Victoria's workforce works within custodial (prison services) locations throughout Victoria.

Community Correctional Services has a state wide network of offices and reporting centres. Select Community Correctional Services locations to view a location map.
Community Correctional Services manages and enforces non-custodial orders from Court and parole orders from the Adult Parole Board. These sentences require the enforcement of compliance with the Order, supervision of treatment or personal development programs, community work or other programs for offenders.
